Penny Drive – Friday

What a SHAKE UP!!! The 5th & 6th grade class stole the thunder out from under the rest with their win. Today, the classes raised over $2,000!!!
Sacred Heart wants to thank the PTO for sponsoring the Penny Drive and working tirelessly at counting pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, & dollars. They are dedicated to our students and we thank them for continuing to come out each morning and year. We want to give our PTO a BIG SALUTE & to congratulate the 5th & 6th grade class on their win!

Penny Drive – Thursday

Well, today had a new winner, the kindergarten class! They were so excited and everyone is gearing for the big finale coming tomorrow! If you have never seen our Penny Drive it’s something to behold!

Penny Drive – Tuesday

Well, they did it AGAIN! Pre-K won today. That’s two days in a row the pre-k class has won the Penny Drive.  They were so excited, a couple of them did a happy dance! The question now is can they keep it up?

Penny Drive-Monday

You guessed it! Our week started with an EXCITING MORNING – the PENNY DRIVE!!!  The new students and pre-k’ers quickly understood how it works. Pennies count FOR your classroom and ALL other monies count AGAINST your classroom. We realize it’s too early to determine this week’s winner, but TODAY’S winner is PRE-K!  Can they keep it up?

Penny Drive-Thursday

Penny Drive-Thursday CollageOur halls were very lively today as the students placed their monies in designated buckets.  You can see them in the halls trying to come up strategies to put them in the best place for tomorrow’s final Penny Drive.  Kindergarten received the most pennies today, but they were “bombed” the most and are only in 3rd place!  Today’s winner was the 1st and 2nd grade classroom AGAIN!  Those nickels, dimes, quarters, and bills sure do make a big difference!
Who’s going to win the Penny Drive tomorrow?  Will the 1st and 2nd grade classroom be able onto hold their winning streak or will another classroom sneak up and win?  These and many more questions will be answered tomorrow as we conclude our awesome Penny Drive!!!

Penny Drive-Tuesday

Penny Drive-Tuesday CollageToday’s Penny Drive was very exciting!  The students walked back and forth between the buckets to drop in their money hoping it would put their class in a good place for Friday.  Strategies are definitely in play.  Today’s winner is the Kindergarten class!  As you can imagine, they were definitely excited about their win today.  Who will win tomorrow???

Penny Drive-Monday

Penny Drive-Monday CollageOur Penny Drive started with a blast this morning!  Some buckets had very little while others were full!  The students were already talking strategy this morning to give their class the upper hand so they will win the week’s competition.  Today’s winner was the 5th & 6th grade classroom.  Will they be able to hold onto the lead?
This fundraiser is sponsored by the PTO and we have the best!  In the past, the PTO has been able to purchase desks and chairs for the 1st – 4th grade classrooms, reading books for the kindergarten – 4th grade classrooms, and white boards for all classrooms.
Remember, pennies count toward a classroom; nickels, dimes, quarters, and all bills count against a classroom.

Penny Drive-Friday CollageThat was the difference between 1st and 2nd place for the Penny Drive.  7th & 8th grade won!!!  Today was the final day of the Penny Drive and everyone came prepared for a showdown!  Classes that had been holding out brought everything they had and the others brought a little extra to counteract the sudden influx of coins.  It was exciting when the 1 minute bell rung.  The 7th & 8th grade came bursting in with the majority of their money!  Most of the classes had to have more than one bucket to hold their money.  Those quarters, nickels, dimes and pennies are HEAVY!!!  Some grades had to have more than one person carry their money to be counted.  We raised $2,802.47 in the Penny Drive – that’s 280,247 pennies!!!  SHS wants to thank our PTO for doing all of the heavy lifting (literally) and counting.  Several adults will be counting money in their sleep and rolling coins!
